About
She & Him is an American indie pop duo formed in 2006 by actress and singer-songwriter Zooey Deschanel and multi-instrumentalist M. Ward. Based in Portland, Oregon, the pair blend vintage pop, country, and folk influences with Deschanel’s distinctive vocals and Ward’s production. Their debut album Volume One (2008) established their retro-tinged sound, followed by six additional studio albums including Volume Two, A Very She & Him Christmas, and Classics. They have collaborated with artists such as the Decemberists and released music primarily through Merge Records. The duo is known for covers of classic songs alongside original material that evokes 1960s girl-group and sunshine pop aesthetics.
