Back Number is a Japanese rock band formed in 2004 in Shimotsuke, Tochigi. The trio consists of Iyori Shimizu (vocals/guitar), Kazuya Kojima (bass), and Shunichi Tanabe (drums). They gained mainstream success with their 2015 single “Horizon,” which topped the Oricon charts, followed by multiple number-one albums including “Chandelier” and “Magic.” Their sound blends J-rock, pop-rock, and emotional balladry with introspective lyrics. The band has collaborated with artists such as Aimyon and frequently performs at major venues including Tokyo Dome. They are signed to Universal Music Japan.
