Mac DeMarco is a Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Edmonton, Alberta. He emerged in the early 2010s Montreal DIY scene with a lo-fi, slacker-rock sound built on jangly guitars, tape hiss, and laid-back vocals. His breakthrough came with the 2012 EP Rock and Roll Night Club and the 2013 album 2, followed by Salad Days (2014) and This Old Dog (2017). DeMarco’s music blends indie rock, lo-fi, and soft-psych influences; he is known for his off-kilter humor, home-recorded aesthetic, and extensive touring. He has released music on Captured Tracks and his own Mac’s Record Label imprint and has collaborated with artists including Mild High Club and Kirin J Callinan.
