About

Goo Goo Dolls formed in Buffalo, New York in 1986 by John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and George Tutuska. Initially a hardcore punk band, they shifted toward melodic alternative rock and achieved mainstream success with the 1998 single “Iris,” which topped charts worldwide and earned multiple Grammy nominations. Their 1995 album A Boy Named Goo went multi-platinum, and subsequent releases like Dizzy Up the Girl and Gutterflower solidified their presence on rock radio. The band’s sound blends power-pop hooks, emotional balladry and guitar-driven rock. They have sold more than 15 million albums and continue to tour extensively. Long-term members Rzeznik and Takac remain the creative core.
