Joe Burke

Joe Burke was an Irish traditional musician from Kilnadeema, County Galway, best known as a master button accordion player. He began performing in the 1950s and became a leading figure in the Irish traditional music scene, winning the All-Ireland accordion title multiple times. Burke recorded several influential albums and collaborated with fiddler Charlie Lennon and other traditional artists. His playing style combined technical precision with deep rhythmic drive, helping popularize the two-row button accordion in Irish music. He toured extensively in Ireland, the UK, and North America and remained active into the 2000s.
