Joelma

Joelma da Silva Mendes, known professionally as Joelma, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and dancer born in Almeirim, Pará. She first gained national prominence as the lead vocalist of the brega-pop duo Banda Calypso alongside her then-husband, guitarist Mestre Ximbinha. After the couple’s separation in 2015, Joelma launched a solo career that maintained the high-energy mix of brega, tecnobrega, and pop that defined Calypso’s sound. Her debut solo album, “Joelma,” was released in 2016 and produced several radio hits including “Voando pro Pará.” She has continued to release dance-oriented singles and albums while touring extensively throughout Brazil and maintaining a strong presence on digital platforms.
