Daddy Yankee

Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, known professionally as Daddy Yankee, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and songwriter from San Juan. He rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s as a pioneer of reggaeton, helping bring the genre to global audiences. His 2004 album Barrio Fino and the single “Gasolina” became international breakthroughs that defined the reggaeton sound. Subsequent hits such as “Rompe,” “Lo Que Pasó, Pasó,” and the 2017 collaboration “Despacito” with Luis Fonsi further solidified his status. Daddy Yankee has released multiple platinum-certified albums and collaborated with artists across Latin and mainstream pop. He announced his retirement from music in 2022 after a farewell tour.
