Steve Lacy is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and record producer from Compton, California. He rose to prominence as the guitarist and backing vocalist for the Los Angeles collective The Internet, contributing to their albums Ego Death and Hive Mind. Lacy launched his solo career with the 2017 EP Steve Lacy's Demo and achieved mainstream success with his 2022 debut album Gemini Rights, which featured the hit single "Bad Habit." His sound blends neo-soul, funk, R&B and indie elements with self-produced, lo-fi aesthetics. Lacy has collaborated with artists including Kendrick Lamar, Solange, Tyler, the Creator and J. Cole. He is known for his distinctive guitar tone, melodic hooks and genre-fluid approach.
