About
Pierre Guédron was a French composer and singer active in the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Born in the late 16th century, he served as a musician at the courts of Henry IV and Louis XIII, becoming one of the leading composers of airs de cour. His works helped transition French secular song from Renaissance polyphony toward the emerging Baroque style. He collaborated with poet Pierre de Brach and contributed significantly to the development of the French air, publishing several collections between 1602 and 1620. His compositions were widely performed in aristocratic salons and influenced later French vocal music.
