Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is an American hip hop duo from Seattle, Washington, consisting of rapper Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis. They rose to international fame with their 2012 album The Heist, which spawned the hit singles "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold Us." The project blended hip hop with indie and pop elements, earning multiple Grammy Awards including Best New Artist. Their follow-up album This Unruly Mess I've Made continued their socially conscious themes. The duo went on hiatus after 2016, with Macklemore pursuing a solo career while Lewis focused on production work.
