The Intruders

The Intruders were an American soul vocal group formed in Philadelphia in the mid-1960s. They were one of the first acts signed to Gamble and Huff’s Philadelphia International Records and helped define the emerging Philly soul sound. Their 1968 single “Cowboys to Girls” reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart and number six on the Hot 100. Subsequent hits included “(Love Doctor) I Wanna Know” and “I’ll Always Love My Mama.” The original lineup featured Sam “Little Sonny” Brown, Eugene “Bird” Daughtry, Phil Terry, and Robert Edwards. After the group disbanded in the late 1970s, Brown and Daughtry briefly reunited for new recordings in the 1980s and 1990s.
