DJ Maphorisa

DJ Maphorisa is a South African record producer, DJ and songwriter from Pretoria, Gauteng. He rose to prominence in the mid-2010s as a key figure in the amapiano movement, producing hits for artists such as Kabza De Small, Wizkid and Burna Boy. His sound fuses deep house, kwaito, gqom and Afro-house with the rolling log-drum rhythms that define amapiano. Notable projects include the collaborative album Scorpion Kings with Kabza De Small and production credits on major international releases. He founded the independent label Scorpion Kings Records and remains one of South Africa’s most streamed and influential dance-music producers.
