Barry Wordsworth

Barry Wordsworth is a British conductor born in London. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music and began his career as a répétiteur at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He served as Principal Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra from 1989 to 1993 and later became Music Director of the Royal Ballet from 1990 to 2015. Wordsworth has conducted major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. His work spans opera, ballet, and concert repertoire, with notable recordings for Naxos and Chandos labels.
