Joan Sebastian

Joan Sebastian was a Mexican singer-songwriter born in Juliantla, Guerrero. He became one of the most influential figures in regional Mexican music, blending ranchera, banda, mariachi, grupera and norteño styles. Over a four-decade career he released more than 30 studio albums, wrote hundreds of hits for himself and other artists, and won multiple Latin Grammy Awards. His songwriting often explored themes of love, heartbreak and rural life, delivered with a distinctive baritone voice. Sebastian also founded his own label and maintained a devoted following across Mexico and the United States until his death in 2015.
