About

Antonín Dvořák was a Czech composer born in 1841 in Nelahozeves, Bohemia. He rose to prominence in the late 19th century with his symphonies, chamber music, and operas that blended Czech folk elements with Romantic traditions. His Symphony No. 9 'From the New World' brought him international acclaim during his time in the United States. Dvořák served as director of the National Conservatory of Music in New York and influenced American composers. His cello concerto and Slavonic Dances remain cornerstones of the classical repertoire. He returned to Prague in 1895 and continued composing until his death in 1904.
