Vybz Kartel

Vybz Kartel is a Jamaican dancehall deejay, singer and songwriter from Kingston. He rose to prominence in the early 2000s with hits such as "Clarks" and "Fever" and became one of the most influential voices in modern dancehall. His lyrics often explore street life, romance and social commentary, delivered over raw, bass-heavy riddims. Kartel has released dozens of mixtapes and albums, frequently collaborating with producers like Dre Skull and artists such as Popcaan and Gaza Slim. Despite a long-running legal case that led to imprisonment in 2014, his music continued to dominate charts and streaming platforms. He is widely credited with shaping the "Gaza" movement and pushing dancehall’s global reach.
