About
Deftones formed in Sacramento, California in 1988. The alternative metal band rose to prominence in the late 1990s with their fusion of heavy riffs, atmospheric textures, and Chino Moreno’s distinctive vocals. Their breakthrough album White Pony (2000) earned a Grammy and established them as leaders in the nu-metal and shoegaze scenes. Subsequent releases such as Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan expanded their sound into experimental rock and post-metal territories. The group has maintained a consistent lineup featuring Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, and Sergio Vega, and continues to tour and record new material.
