Irma Thomas

Irma Thomas is an American soul and R&B singer from New Orleans, Louisiana, widely known as the 'Soul Queen of New Orleans.' She began her career in the 1950s and gained national attention with her 1964 hit 'Wish Someone Would Care.' Thomas recorded for labels including Minit, Imperial, and Rounder, and has released over twenty albums spanning soul, blues, and gospel. She has collaborated with artists such as Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, and Marcia Ball, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
