Ricky Martin

Enrique Martín Morales, known professionally as Ricky Martin, is a Puerto Rican singer, actor and author born in San Juan in 1971. He rose to fame as a member of the boy band Menudo before launching a solo career that made him one of the leading figures of the Latin pop explosion of the late 1990s. His 1999 single “Livin’ La Vida Loca” topped charts worldwide and helped popularize Latin music in the mainstream English-language market. Subsequent albums such as Sound Loaded and collaborations with artists including Madonna and Wisin & Yandel solidified his status as the “King of Latin Pop.” Martin has also acted on Broadway and television and is an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. His work spans Latin pop, dance-pop and Latin ballad styles, frequently incorporating reggaeton and salsa influences.
