Janine Jansen is a Dutch violinist and violist born in 1978 in Soest, Netherlands. She studied at the Utrecht Conservatory and quickly rose to prominence with acclaimed performances of the major violin concerto repertoire. Jansen has appeared as soloist with leading orchestras including the Royal Concertgebouw, Berlin Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic. Her recordings for Decca include the Brahms and Beethoven concertos as well as the Vivaldi Four Seasons, which achieved significant commercial success. She has collaborated with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Valery Gergiev, and Daniel Harding. Jansen also performs chamber music and serves as artistic director of her own festival in Utrecht.
