About

Kansas is an American progressive rock band formed in Topeka, Kansas in 1973. The group rose to fame in the mid-1970s with a blend of symphonic prog, hard rock, and AOR. Their breakthrough came with the 1976 album Leftoverture and its hit single “Carry On Wayward Son,” followed by Point of Know Return (1977) and the ballad “Dust in the Wind.” Core members include guitarist/keyboardist Kerry Livgren, violinist Robby Steinhardt, drummer Phil Ehart, and vocalist Steve Walsh. The band has released over a dozen studio albums, earned multiple gold and platinum certifications, and continues to tour with a mix of original and later members.
