About
Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in London in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. Emerging from the ashes of the Yardbirds, they became one of the most influential and commercially successful groups of the 1970s. Their sound fused blues, folk, hard rock, and heavy metal, characterized by Page’s riff-driven guitar work, Plant’s powerful vocals, and dynamic rhythm section. Landmark albums include Led Zeppelin IV (1971) featuring “Stairway to Heaven,” Physical Graffiti, and the live document The Song Remains the Same. The band toured extensively and pioneered arena rock production before disbanding in 1980 following Bonham’s death. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
