About
Andre Young, known professionally as Dr. Dre, is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur from Compton, California. He rose to prominence in the 1980s as a member of N.W.A, helping pioneer gangsta rap and West Coast hip hop. In the 1990s he founded Death Row Records and released the landmark album The Chronic, which popularized G-funk. Later he launched Aftermath Entertainment, signing and producing for Eminem, 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar. His production style and business ventures have shaped modern hip hop and earned him multiple Grammy Awards.
