About

Blondie is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1974 by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. Emerging from the CBGB punk scene, they blended punk, new wave, disco, and reggae into a distinctive sound that helped define late-1970s and early-1980s pop. Their breakthrough came with the 1978 album Parallel Lines, which spawned hits like “Heart of Glass,” “One Way or Another,” and “Hanging on the Telephone.” Subsequent albums such as Eat to the Beat and Autoamerican produced further chart successes including “Call Me,” “Rapture,” and “The Tide Is High.” The band went on hiatus in the 1980s but reunited in the late 1990s, releasing No Exit and later albums like Panic of Girls and Pollinator. Blondie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
