About
Alice in Chains is an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1987. They rose to prominence as part of the grunge movement alongside Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Fronted by Layne Staley until his death in 2002, the band is known for its dark, heavy sound blending grunge with metal influences. Key albums include Dirt (1992) and the acoustic EP Jar of Flies (1994). After a long hiatus, they returned with Black Gives Way to Blue (2009) featuring new vocalist William DuVall. The band has sold over 30 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024.
