Rueda de Candombe

Rueda de Candombe is a Uruguayan ensemble dedicated to the traditional Afro-Uruguayan rhythm of candombe. Formed in Montevideo, the group performs the classic drum-based style rooted in the city’s Carnival parades and neighborhood comparsas. Their repertoire centers on the three-drum set of piano, repique and chico, often accompanied by call-and-response vocals and dance. The band has released recordings on independent Uruguayan labels and regularly appears at local festivals and cultural events celebrating Afro-Uruguayan heritage.
