Sonny Boy Williamson

Aleck “Sonny Boy Williamson” Miller was an American blues harmonica player, singer and songwriter born in Mississippi around 1912. He rose to prominence on the King Biscuit Time radio show in Helena, Arkansas, and recorded for Trumpet Records in the early 1950s. His signature pieces include “Eyesight to the Blind,” “Nine Below Zero,” and “Help Me,” the latter becoming a later standard for many artists. Williamson toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe during the 1960s blues revival and collaborated with Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and the Animals before his death in 1965. He is regarded as one of the most influential postwar Chicago blues harmonica stylists.
