Cigarettes After Sex is an American dream pop band formed in 2008 in El Paso, Texas by songwriter and vocalist Greg Gonzalez. The group gained international attention with the 2012 single "Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby" and the 2017 self-titled debut album that reached the top 40 in multiple countries. Their atmospheric, slow-tempo sound centers on Gonzalez's hushed vocals and reverb-heavy guitar textures, often described as ethereal and cinematic. Follow-up albums Cry (2019) and X's (2024) continued their minimalist aesthetic while expanding global touring. The project has remained largely a studio endeavor with a rotating live lineup supporting Gonzalez.
