Asake, born Ahmed Ololade in Lagos, Nigeria, rose to prominence in 2022 with the viral single “Sungba” and the breakout album Mr. Money With The Vibe. Blending Yoruba street slang, highlife horns, and amapiano log drums, he quickly became one of Afrobeats’ most streamed voices, earning a global deal with Empire and later a major-label partnership with Columbia. His 2023 follow-up Work of Art and the 2024 single “Wave” both debuted at number one on the Billboard World Albums chart, while collaborations with Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Travis Scott broadened his reach. Asake’s live shows—marked by frenetic choreography and brass-heavy ensembles—have headlined festivals from Coachella to Glastonbury.
