Philippe Entremont is a French pianist and conductor born in Reims in 1934. He studied piano with his mother and later with Marguerite Long and Jean Doyen before winning the 1953 Long-Thibaud Competition. His international career began with acclaimed debuts in New York and London, leading to long-term associations with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Vienna Symphony. Entremont has recorded extensively for Columbia, CBS, and Deutsche Grammophon, championing French repertoire alongside standard concertos. He served as music director of the Denver Symphony, New Orleans Philharmonic, and Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and founded the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. His style blends clarity, elegance, and a distinctive French sensibility.
