About
Jeangu Macrooy is a Surinamese singer-songwriter based in the Netherlands. He first gained attention with his 2016 debut album High On You and the single “Gold”, blending soul, pop and Afro-Caribbean influences. In 2020 he represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Grow”, finishing in 23rd place. His follow-up album Brave Enough (2022) expanded his sound into Afro house and jazz-rap territories while maintaining introspective lyrics. Macrooy is also known for his work as a producer and collaborator with Dutch artists such as Wende and Typhoon.
