Hank Mobley

Hank Mobley was an American jazz tenor saxophonist and composer born in 1930 in East Liverpool, Ohio. A central figure in the hard bop movement, he recorded extensively for Blue Note Records in the 1950s and 1960s, contributing to landmark sessions with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Horace Silver, and Miles Davis. Known for his warm, fluid tone and melodic phrasing, Mobley released acclaimed albums such as Soul Station and No Room for Squares. He remained active through the 1970s before health issues curtailed his career; he died in 1986.
