Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley was an American singer, musician and actor born in Tupelo, Mississippi in 1935 and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He rose to fame in the mid-1950s with Sun Records, blending country, blues and gospel into a new sound that helped define rock and roll. His national breakthrough came with RCA Victor hits such as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog” and “Jailhouse Rock,” establishing him as the era’s most commercially successful performer. Presley starred in numerous films through the 1960s while continuing to record, later returning to live performance with his 1968 NBC comeback special and long-running Las Vegas residencies. He remained one of the best-selling solo artists in history until his death in 1977.
