Nightwish

Nightwish is a Finnish symphonic metal band formed in 1996 in Kitee by songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. Originally a gothic metal project, the group evolved into symphonic metal with operatic vocals, orchestral arrangements, and folk elements. Frontwoman Tarja Turunen fronted the band until 2005; Anette Olzon replaced her until 2012, after which Floor Jansen became the permanent vocalist. Key albums include Oceanborn, Wishmaster, Once, Dark Passion Play, and Endless Forms Most Beautiful. The band has sold millions of records worldwide and is credited with helping popularize symphonic metal. Nightwish has toured extensively and collaborated with orchestras and choirs on major productions.
